A year ago today is when Obama announced that Bin Laden was dead.
I remember being confused.
It had been so long since 9/11. I hadn’t forgotten what happened but so many other things occurred since then. There was Iraq, democratic revolutions in the Middle East, and more people had been lost in the war against terror than during 9/11.
On top of that, it was an assassination. There was no trial or conviction.
Also, someone was dead. Am I supposed to rejoice at the death of an enemy?
Now that a year has passed I am still conflicted. But my mind has somewhat been brought to ease by the fact that the Obama administration is using the death of Bin Laden as a reason to leave Afghanistan.
We don’t need to lose any more lives, American or any other.
