I spent the last week down at one of my client’s offices.
I want to say that we got a lot done, but we didn’t. We were too distracted with other clients and administrative items.
I was told this happens to seniors, but I finally got some real experience with the situation. I didn’t like it. I’ll have to come up with some way to prioritize my workflow. Yea, I guess that will ultimately be it. I can’t do it all. Some stuff is going to have to not get done.
The newest part was telling the new staff what to do, then showing her how to do it, and then reviewing it. The telling her part wasn’t too bad. I think I’m a decent explain-er. The showing her how to do it was more difficult because I couldn’t yet tell where that line was between watching her do it and letting her doing it. And that kinda revolved around wanting her to come up with some ideas naturally and letting her learn through the struggle, but then also not wanting her to become frustrated through too much struggling.
I barely got to the reviewing part, but I don’t think I had enough time to actually go through it with her. So I thought I would save that for Monday. The review part is really important for her development and her development is really important to the success of our future engagements.
These are different problems than I’m used to so they are stressing me out earlier this week. But as time passes I’m feeling more and more confident about them. Now they’re almost starting to become exciting.
Tomorrow I will be going back to the robots.
Today was a pretty slow day. I woke up around 8am and had some coffee. Then I watched some TV and did some fantasy football commissioning. That commissioning always takes longer than I expect. It took an hour and a half today. Then I went to wash my car, inside and out. That took a solid hour. Then my parents left to drop off my sister at school, so I stayed with my youngest sister. We read the weekend newspapers, which also took like 3 hours, and had some McDonalds for lunch.
My friend came over later and we watched some of the Cowboys game. Then I feel asleep for about half an hour and another friend came over. We eventually ordered some pizza and watched the Broncos game. Peyton Manning broke the record for all time touch downs by a quarter back. That was awesome. He’s so earnest. He deserves it. Then I packed and now I’m waiting to watch The Walking Dead.
Once I watch it, I’ll be ready to go to the robots.
I’m feeling nervous about it. I think I might actually be afraid that I’ll fail at this, maybe not with the robots, but with some other client this season. It’s kinda exciting.
Like the title says. I might be done with my summer work tomorrow. Unfortunately, there is more work to be done very soon. Also, we’re starting interim work probably that last week of September. So I might get a few days of “rest”. They probably won’t let me finish the Harry Potter book though. I’ll have to finish that at the house one weekend.
There are only two more episodes of Breaking Bad left. I’m super excited. Although, I would be happy with this last episode being the last episode of the series. I’m ok with the way the story ended.
I understand what Walt did and I don’t know if I would have done the same. I’m not saying I would have done those things, but I understand.
I did see Walt’s pants from the first episode. That was a cool reference to first season.
